Peat Moss

Our Peat Moss is harvested from the upper level of living sphagnum peat bogs and is an exceptional additive to seed starting mixtures, especially when mixed with perlite or sand. Having the ability to retain up to ten times its weight in moisture, adding peat moss will greatly reduce the amount of irrigation required.

For heavy clay soils, mix peat moss well with the soil and with vermiculite or perlite for an improved planting mix that both drains excess moisture while retaining necessary moisture. Degrading much more slowly than many soil additives, it will also help to facilitate soil aeration, providing more life-giving oxygen to your plants' roots. Per unit, sphagnum peat moss is much less expensive than other commercially available soil additives.
