SKU: SFS-ECH-PSDR-ER
Our ‘Prairie Splendor™ Deep Rose’ Echinacea Seed is the epitome of the original Coneflower wildflower, producing short, stocky plants with prolific, deep rose blossoms with overlapping petals that stand out proud and strong, blooming 100% in the first year, from seed! In fact, it blooms up to two weeks earlier than most varieties. Considered somewhat aggressive in the garden by some, many more are thrilled with the way Prairie Splendor thrives with full sun and adequate drainage, as well as its low feeding requirements and resistance to drought. Prairie Splendor Deep Rose Echinacea Seeds Growing Informtion

Echinacea Flower Seed is one of the easiest flowers to grow from seed, able to be sown directly into the garden, as they prefer light, full or filtered, to germinate. The best method seems to be using a small implement, or just your forefinger, to create a shallow furrow. Lay the seeds down and water gently but thoroughly. You can very lightly cover them at planting or you can wait until you see them start to sprout to cover them, but they only require about 1/8-inch of soil. Germination normally takes from 10 to 20 days at soil temperatures above 70°F. You will eventually be thinning them to 18 to 24-inches apart. Plants normally flower 16 weeks after sowing, at which time, shear them back and wait for the second blooming! Not bothered by many pests, some gardeners in the East find that Japanese Beetles love their Echinacea. Try our highly concentrated NOCDOWN III to control both the grubs (the larvae) and the adults of the Japanese beetle.
