Penngift Crown Vetch Seeds

SKU: SFS-CV-PEN-ER
Our ‘Penngift’ Crown Vetch Seed is one of the easiest and most prolific perennials used to cover bare ground, even in rocky, poor, infertile soil. Amazingly drought tolerant once established, this creeper grows both above and below ground, eventually choking out the toughest weeds, replacing your weedy hill with a carpet of green foliage liberally dotted with tiny pinky-white, 1/2 to 1-inch blossoms, the whole of which is completely maintenance free and doesn’t even require mowing! Approximately 1000 seeds per each hand-filled packet. More details...

Penngift Crown Vetch Seeds Growing Information

Crown Vetch can be directly sown into just about any soil and will tolerate a wide variety of climatic conditions. Cultivate the soil to provide a loose seed bed, scatter the seed and then cover lightly or lightly rake in and water thoroughly. Covering with a sparse layer of straw will retain moisture while germination takes place. Germination normally takes 2 to 3-weeks. If you need wide coverage quickly, we recommend you mix 1-pound of Crown Vetch seed with 1-pound of Annual Ryegrass seed, a mixture that will cover approximately 1,000 square feet, will fill in quickly and then will leave the perennial crown vetch to fill in for the subsequent years.
