Lemon-Grass Herb Plant

The 'Lemon Grass' Herb Plant is a perennial clumping grass in hot climates, and a requisite flavor ingredient in many Asian and Caribbean cuisines. Also spelled as one word, Lemongrass, it can be used dried or powdered—but its lemony flavor is most pronounced when fresh. Lemongrass can be sliced and added to cooking foods, but most chefs prefer to obtain its sweet-fragranced oils from large, bruised pieces that are removed before serving, since its tough stalks are difficult to chew. Lemongrass adds lemony flavor without the acid of lemons. Lemongrass is commonly used in teas, curries, soups and stir-fries. It is the source of citronella oil, an essential fragrance in the perfume industry. It has a calming effect as a medicinal herb, and is a popular natural mosquito repellant. Like most herbs, Lemongrass thrives in full sun. It prefers sandy, well-drained soil. Under ideal conditions, it will reach heights of 6 feet! Each 3-inch pot contains one Lemon-Grass herb plant. Comment: Sometimes when you go to order plants, etc. on line you can wonder "what" you are really going to get, will it look like the product visually seen on the website; well the answer is YES! Comment: We had been searching locally for lemon grass because ours froze last winter. I love lemon grass tea and have others enjoying it as well. When we opened the box, we were pleasantly surprised at the container our p... More details
