Organic Seed Potatoes

Potatoes are remarkably easy to grow. Gardeners who depend on a reliable harvest have long known that the quality of the seed potato can make the difference between a good yield and a not-so-good yield. That is why we offer only the "best of the best" seed potatoes.

If you are growing one of the early varieties of seed potatoes, planting can begin as early as 5 weeks before your last average spring frost date. If you are growing a late variety, waiting to plant so they'll mature just before your last frost allows them to store better once they are harvested.

Each pound of seed potatoes will plant a 10-foot row. Prior to planting, cut the potatoes so there is at least one "potato eye" per section. Place pieces of potato 1 foot apart in mounded, well-draining soil. Our short, one-minute video shows how to cut and plant seed potatoes, while our article "How to Plant Potatoes" offers more complete, printable planting and growing instructions.

Seed potatoes normally begin shipping mid-late March, weather permitting.
