Keep the soil around the plants moist for the first 4 weeks after transplanting. No harvesting should be done the first year. Simply allow the plants to grow and fern out in the fall. The second year you can harvest any asparagus spear that is thicker than your thumb. The ferns can be cut down in the fall after the first hard freeze or they can be allowed to stand over winter. Make sure to cut them back to the ground before the new growth starts emerging.

Comment: These arrived in great shape and ready to plant!! I was impressed with the size of the crowns and the minimal, if any, damage during shipping. Excited to get them in the ground! I can't wait for harvest.
