Rose Plants

As the name implies, Rosa plants are in the rose family, though they actually look quite different. Growing more wildly, sometimes even being used as a ground cover, they can also grow to 8-feet or more. Many are very fragrant and repeat bloom all season long. If you prefer free-growing to sedate beauty, then you might want to choose one of the Rosa plants.

Rosa (pronounced just like it looks) plants are also called Shrub Roses, Landscape Roses or Wild Roses and are really easy to care for, though some may not do as well in really cold climates as others. Most shrub roses are more disease resistant and hardier than their highfalutin cousins and they are absolutely prized for the rose hips they produce. Rose hips attract hungry winter birds and are attractive, in their own way, But don’t deadhead if you want the rose hips, and therefore, the birds.
