Ornamental Pepper Flower Seeds

Our Ornamental Pepper Flower Seeds bear plants that add unusual texture, color and spice to your garden, though except for one or two exceptions, you probably would not want to eat them. Ornamental peppers tend to be extremely hot, with little flavor to make them worth the agony; this is why they are ornamental to begin with. Peppers are easy to grow and will grow up until the first frost outside, then can be put to use as decorations for the fall and winter holidays inside. The choices in colors are amazing and varied, the only limit to their myriad of uses being your imagination.

Ornamental pepper seeds yield plants that yield peppers of many different shapes and sizes. Their care is the same as any pepper plant, the difference being that you won’t be harvesting them for use in the kitchen. The only time you actually need to remove the peppers from the plants is when you want to rejuvenate the plant, forcing a second bloom. At this point, you don’t even have to pick the peppers one by one; simply cut the plant back by half as the first crop of peppers starts to shrivel. Almost all pepper plants will put on an encore before getting frostbitten. Choose a sunny location for your pepper plants; they like it hot. Some are exceptionally drought tolerant, but all will benefit from regular watering, performing at their best with a little TLC. You can also harvest ornamental pepper seeds for next year’s outdoor plants and you can always scatter pots of peppers around indoors, bedecked with ribbons and/or lights if you wish for the holidays. Decorative peppers require regular feeding, especially if potted. Feed a liquid fertilizer, such as Jungle Flora or Neptune’s Harvest, at half strength every two weeks; both are approved for organic gardening, are formulated specifically for vegetable and ornamental plants and are safe for use around your family and pets, as well as being safe for the environment.

Each order of our fresh Ornamental Pepper seeds is filled by hand, put into a resealable plastic bag and then placed into a labeled seed packet. It is our goal to provide our customers the best in freshness and quality.

Black Pearl Ornamental Pepper Flower Seeds

Price $7.05

Our ‘Black Pearl’ Ornamental Pepper Flower Seed is the first ornamental pepper variety to have black leaves. First emerging green, the foliage turns glossy and black, especially with direct sun and good heat. An All-America Selections® winner in 2006, it is easy to see why Black Pearl has become so popular. The semi-glossy leaves look leathery and will be deep purple to black, against which even glossier 3/4-inch black pepper pearls grow, eventually maturing to brilliant red, really standing out against that dark foliage. This vigorously growing, well-branched, bushy plant is the perfect companion to silver, blue and yellow-leafed plants, making everything seem brighter in comparison! Approximately 25 seeds per each hand-filled packet.
