Medium Red Clover Seed is an extremely adaptable legume; an exceptional forage that is packed full of vitamins A, B, C, E and K and is also a great source for calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc and chlorophyll. Medium Red Clover is often planted to help loosen subsoil, to improve soil condition by releasing phosphorous and potassium; to suppress weeds and to host beneficial insects, such as honey bees. Medium Red Clover is regularly planted as a companion to other forage or as an alternative to alfalfa.
Medium Red Clover is fine-leafed and very quick to take hold. As forage pasture and for hay, it has proven to produce exceptional tonnage, even in the first year of growth. It thrives where alfalfa cannot-in wet soils-and is highly productive under those conditions.
The recommended seed rate is 10-12 pounds per acre if planting alone, or 2-4 pounds per acre if mixing with other forage. Medium Red Clover performs best in poorly to well-drained soils with a pH of 5.5 to 6.5. This is coated seed.
