The 'Cardinalis' Lobelia plant is the basis for this plant genus that has spawned many varieties of this brilliantly colored hummingbird magnet. The deeply-saturated red flowers appear first as bright pink buds, opening to red Cardinal Flowers, the color of a Catholic Cardinal’s robes, starting at the bottom of the raceme, and proceeding to bloom until the top of the stem is reached. The 'Queen Victoria' Lobelia Plant is expected to become a favorite Cardinal Flower for gardeners who have unmanageable, boggy areas in their yards in which nothing but the frogs and turtles can survive.
