Hibiscus Flower Seeds produce only a few varieties from seed, all of them perennials, all of them winter-hardy to zone 4 and all of them bringing delightfully tropical color and fragrance to your landscape. You may also hear them referred to as Mallow, Rose Mallow, Rose of Sharon or Althea. Hibiscus, pronounced hy-BIS-cus, is an herbaceous perennial, which simply means that the top dies back to the ground in the wintertime, with new shoots turning into lush growth as temperatures warm in the spring. Don’t give up on your Hardy Hibiscus! They may be slow to start, often not sending out new shoots until June, but so well worth the wait! With incredibly showy, shiny, papery-looking blossoms ranging from just under 4-inches to a whopping dinner plate size of 10-inches, and with every primary color, as well as a myriad of secondary colors, the versatility of the Hardy Hibiscus ranges from being used as a compact privacy hedge to being planted as the primary focal point in your outdoor décor. Surprisingly easy to grow, all Hibiscuses will perform their best with regular feeding. We recommend a water-soluble, slow-release, natural fertilizer, such as Jungle Flora or Espoma® Palm-tone®, both of which are approved for organic gardening and are safe for your family, pets, livestock and water habitats, with Espoma Palm-tone being especially formulated for the nutritional needs of Hibiscus. Each order of our fresh Hibiscus seeds is filled by hand, put into a resealable plastic bag and then placed into a labeled seed packet. It is our goal to provide our customers the best in freshness and quality. |
