Hi Yield® Dormant Spray is a very effective control for a wide range of insect problems on shrubs, shade trees, ornamentals and fruit trees.
Paraffinic Oil is the primary ingredient, one that is an odorless, colorless, slightly viscous by-product of petroleum distillation. You may have seen it used as a transparent fuel for oil lamps at Grandma’s house, but it is considered a mineral oil with many uses, including those for medicinal, manufacturing and in the cosmetic industry for everything from moisturizers to waxing eyebrows.
As an insecticide, it is used to control numerous types of Scale to include that on oleanders, junipers, azaleas, camellias, magnolias, roses, and even San Jose and Obscure Scale on peaches, pears, plums, apples, citrus and pecan trees. Hi Yield Dormant Spray also controls mites, fruit tree leaf rollers, fall armyworms, whiteflies and pear Psylla. It is not recommended for houseplants.
Simply mix 3-ounces in 1-gallon of water and spray your trees thoroughly during the dormant season, repeating every 3 to 4 weeks, if necessary. Protecting your trees and shrubs when dormant will mean healthier plants during the active growing season.
