Clover Flower Seeds

Our Clover Flower seeds are most often grown, either as forage for stock or to improve the soil condition of infertile soil. Clover’s roots are able to produce their own nitrogen and other substances through a process called nitrogen fixation. The plants cannot use all that they produce, which means as roots and leaves die, the soil is enriched. Many farmers will plant a field of clover between crops, tilling it under in order to supplement the soil, a practice known as “green manuring”. The same can be done for an infertile area of your landscape so as to prepare the area for grass seed or sod. You can also use low-growing clover as a border plant and bed filler, or to harvest the small, but intricate and aesthetically pleasing blossoms for dried flower arrangements.

A member of the legume family, clover is a favorite prairie wildflower, grown for naturalizing areas and used to draw honey bees and butterflies. Both of these are exceptional pollinators, and in fact, are necessary for many fruits and vegetables to bear. Available in both annual and perennial varieties, you’ll find that the blossoms of the clover plant can be as amazingly beautiful as its growth can be beneficial. It is not normally necessary to fertilize clover in order to aid its growth, though an application of Neptune’s Harvest Organic Kelp Meal would ensure the best performing clover, as well as helping to rebuild infertile soil.

Each order of our fresh Clover seeds is filled by hand, put into a resealable plastic bag and then placed into a labeled seed packet. It is our goal to provide our customers the best in freshness and quality.

Crimson Clover Flower Seeds

Price $2.23

Our ‘Crimson' Clover Flower Seed is an annual variety of clover that is very easy to grow, is non-invasive and has fantastic strawberry-red, 1-inch flower spires, each having somewhere around 50 tiny blossoms that will eventually cover the spike from bottom to top. Easy to grow, this is a favorite for adding striking color to wildflower meadows and should not be confused with the perennial red clover that is much more invasive and not half as pretty once the flowers fade. Considered a cool-season annual, it will bloom early, but stop blooming when the summer heat becomes too much. You can also sow Crimson clover in the late summer and early fall for later fall to early winter color. As with other clover blossoms, they dry beautifully and are a striking addition to both fresh and dried flower arrangements. Approximately 500 seeds per each hand-filled packet.

Purple Prairie Clover Flower Seeds

Price $5.27

Our ‘Purple Prairie’ Clover Flower Seed is a perennial variety of clover that is widely grown for its unusual, cylindrical, 1 to 2-inch spires of tiny flowers that rise above the foliage. The dark green leaves are borne on a slightly ridged stalk, at the top of which will appear a green thimble-shaped pod that somewhat resembles a tiny pine cone. Then, as the minute blossoms start to grow, they first appear as a wreath around the bottom of this cylinder, eventually covering it, from bottom to top, in magical, petite, bright lavender flowers, each of which has 5 golden-orange anthers that protrude outwards. They make fantastic additions to fresh arrangements, but are more highly prized for their appearance when dried. Approximately 500 seeds per each hand-filled packet.

Strawberry Clover Flower Seeds

Price $2.68

Our ‘Strawberry' Clover Flower Seed is an annual variety of clover that tolerates wetter and saltier conditions than most clovers, making it an exceptional forage for coastal areas, as well as a creeping ground cover for naturalizing areas that don’t drain very well. Having a smaller, more inconspicuous flower than other varieties, you will probably recognize Strawberry clover as one of the more common clovers, being very similar to white clover, but with a lovely pink tint. Having deep roots, this clover can survive prolonged periods of flooding and will be very attractive around water features in your landscape. Low-growing, Strawberry clover makes a soft, lush ground cover, especially for climates that get a lot of rain or for those low areas in your landscape. Approximately 500 seeds per each hand-filled packet.
