Organic Pea Seed

Each 1/4 pound packet of Certified Organic Pea Seed has approximately 750 seeds, which plants a 125-foot row and produces approximately 375-pounds of fresh peas.

Pea seed is generally sown directly into the garden soil. We recommend using a Garden Seeder. Soil temperature should be 45°F. A soil thermometer will insure seed germination. If the soil is too cold or too wet at planting time, pea seeds tend to develop fungus or exhibit poor growth. Under perfect conditions, it takes 6-10 days for pea seed to germinate.

In order to grow the healthiest, best tasting peas, the pH level of your garden soil should be 6.0-7.0. A soil tester will take the guess work out of determining your soil pH levels. Read our Cool Pea Plants blog article for complete planting instructions.

Their delicately sweet flavor and tender texture make them a favorite for fresh eating, canning and freezing. Peas thrive in cool temperatures, so plant them as early as soil can be worked in spring – then again in mid to late summer for a fall harvest. Harvest the pods when they become plump, then shell to reveal the tasty treasures inside. Progress #9 has 4-5" pods that hold 7-9 plump, delicious dark green peas. Equally tasty fresh, canned or frozen. The vigorous 18-20" dwarf vines don't need staking. Approximately 750 seeds per packet.

Organic Sugar Daddy Pea Seed produces a dwarf, bushy, plant with 24-30" vines that need minimal support and produce stringless double pods at each growing node at the top of the plant. Sweet, crispy, and stringless, these dark green pods are great for eating fresh or freezing. All of the flavor you expect from a sweet snap with little of the labor!
