Carnation Flower Seeds

Our Carnation Flower Seeds produce one of the most widely grown and widely recognized flowers in the world. Very easy to grow by seed, there are common garden carnations, and then there are what are considered to be ‘florist-type’ carnations, both of which are exceptional for cutting gardens and versatile in their uses.

Carnations are often called “Pinks” and are an old-fashioned favorite. Able to be grown in the garden or in containers, their spicy, clove-like fragrance is welcome both indoors in vases and outdoors. Lasting incredibly long in bouquets, their long, straight stems allow you to cut them to any length you may need to mix with other cut flowers or to display them in single bud vases where a single, fine-looking carnation always makes a dignified statement. You can even dye carnations any color you choose by simply using food coloring and water, allowing the stem to take up the colored water which will, in turn, color the flower. How do you think the florists do it? As always, flowering plants require a lot of energy to produce their blossoms and will benefit greatly from regular feeding. We recommend Jungle Flora or Espoma Flower-tone®, both of which are organically rich and specially formulated for blooming plants.

Each order of our fresh Carnation seeds is filled by hand, put into a resealable plastic bag and then placed into a labeled seed packet. It is our goal to provide our customers the best in freshness and quality.

Our ‘Chaubaud Giant Double Mix’ Carnation Flower Seed yields one of those ‘florist-type’ carnations, you know, the ones; the ones that are so large, so fluffy, so fragrant and, overall, so stunning! A member of the dianthus family, namely dianthus caryophyllus, do not confuse these with the smaller dianthus, Sweet William; these are ‘Pinks’. Centuries of careful, selective breeding has gone into creating these fully double, incredibly large blossoms in white, pink, red and yellow. You can have the look of hothouse, florist’s flowers without the expense! Approximately 100 seeds per each hand-filled packet.
