Calendula Flower Seeds

Our Calendula Flower Seeds are known by many names: bull’s eyes, garden marigold, goldbloom, golds, holligold, Mary bud and ruddes, the most common of which is Pot Marigold or English Pot Marigold. Native to Asia and parts of Europe, the early settlers brought calendula with them for its medicinal, culinary and ornamental uses. The petals are edible and add a pleasantly spicy flavor and color to soups, stews and salads. Calendula is easy-to-grow, so is a common selection for novices and children.

Calendula, pronounced kah-LEND-yew-lah, is in the daisy family and is available in both annual and perennial varieties. In actuality, since the calendula readily reseeds itself, you will have the pleasure of its appearance every year, from spring up to the first hard frost. Of course, if you prefer it not to reseed, simply pluck the blossoms as they mature. Picking the flowers will also encourage more prolific blooming. Widely adaptable to many soil types, even poor and infertile soils, pot marigold is also quite drought tolerant once established. Only needing watering once or twice a week during dry periods, calendula will also withstand light frost, both in the spring and in the fall. Blooming plants require a lot of energy to put forth their blossoms, so will benefit greatly from a regular feeding schedule. We recommend Jungle Flora or Espoma Flower-tone®, both of which are organically rich and specially formulated for blooming plants.

Each order of our fresh Calendula seeds is filled by hand, put into a resealable plastic bag and then placed into a labeled seed packet. It is our goal to provide our customers the best in freshness and quality.
