Bidens Flower Seeds

Bidens Flower Seeds are a half-hardy annual bearing tall, wiry stems atop which simple single or double, five to ten-petalled, two-toned daisies grow, with dark, beautifully fringed eyes. Amazingly stout, these tall stems can grow up to 3-feet tall and never need support, even when faced with robust winds.

Bidens, pronounced BUY-dins, may also be called Tickseed sunflower or Long-bracted Beggar-ticks and have beautifully ferny foliage supporting star-shaped blossoms. Originating in Southern and Central America, where it is a perennial, it is grown as an annual in most of the United States, except where the climate is hot and humid. Widely adaptable, it will grow on clay and heavy soil, as well as on lighter soils, tending to spread more quickly on lighter soils, the runners sending up shoots in the most unlikely, yet artistically-inclined places. Bidens will not strangle other plants, but instead will weave itself throughout, adding natural accents and tying together the rest of your plants for an overall improvement to your decorating scheme. All flowering plants benefit greatly from regular feeding, especially during the blooming season. We recommend Jungle Flora or Espoma Flower-tone®, both of which are organically rich and specially formulated for blooming plants.

Our ‘Inspiration Yellow’ Bidens Flower Seeds grow into a lacy-looking plant with ferny foliage that puts forth wonderful, double-petalled star-shaped blossoms the yummiest shade of buttery yellow. The tips of each petal will be just slightly lighter, looking to be dipped in a bit of cream. They eye too, is lighter than many, being a rich, honey brown. This half-hardy annual brings joy and light to your garden or containers! Approximately 25 seeds per each hand-filled packet.
