Arborvitaes are fast growing, evergreen coniferous trees that are commonly grown around homes and buildings, and in hedgerows and fence rows.
Arborvitae, pronounced ar-ber-vi-tee, are easy to grow and require little care once established. They prefer slightly acidic, moist, well-draining soil, but will tolerate extremes in both soil type and moisture. They flourish in full sun or partial shade. The average life span is 50 to 150 years. They do produce pine cones, but they are small, only being about 1/3 to 1/2-inch long.
