This variety has small vines that grow 24-30" tall with no staking required. The "I" annotation means they produce a larger than normal crop with a high percentage of 2-pods per cluster, greatly increasing your harvest in a smaller amount of space. The tender 4-inch pods cook up sweet and crunchy. Oregon Sugar Peas freeze well, with no loss of color of flavor. They are also resistant to mosaic virus, powdery mildew and wilt. Peas are a climbing plant, so need a support for growth, though this variety does not require staking. You also might consider one of our newest products, trellis netting, which allows you to grow your peas in a configuration suited to your garden. Peas prefer moist, yet well-drained soil rich in organic material, so consider using a soaker hose on a timer, especially during dry and hot spells.
