Seeded varieties of Sunflowers are grown for landscaping applications, attracting birds, and holding seed.

Just as their name suggests, sunflowers like at least 6 hours of direct sun. They have good root systems, so they can withstand varying amounts of water. However, do not allow them to become water-stressed during the flowering stage. If your sunflowers are in an unprotected area, we recommend staking.

Sunflowers appreciate monthly feedings of Flower-tone. If you want really showy heads for cutting, we also recommend a weekly feeding of Neptune�s Harvest.

If you plan on saving the seeds, watch for the heads to start turning brown, cut the stems 2 inches away from the heads, and hang the heads to dry in a garage or attic. Once the heads are dry, simply rub them together to loosen the seeds, soak seeds overnight in salted water, and then drain. Spread the seeds on baking sheets and roast for 3 hours at 200�F until dry.
