Lupinus (Lupine) are short-lived perennials producing dense clusters of pea-sized flowers. Many lupines have a two-tone effect.
They work well planted in single-color masses or multi-color spreads. Cutting spent stalks will encourage a possible second blooming.
Lupinus prefer cool summer evenings and they do not do well in the extreme heat of summer. Note that the seeds and seedpods are poisonous.
Lupinus will take nitrogen from the atmosphere and turn it into ammonia, fertilizing the soil for your other plants.
Our Lupinus plants have larger, healthier root systems because they are grown in larger pots.
