Fall planting comes with a whole different set of challenges than the spring. The leaves are falling, the weather is cooling, vegetation is becoming dormant, and the critters are stocking up for the winter or grooming themselves for the fall mating season.

So, how do you protect your plants and trees from the damaging result of fall animal activity? Plantskydd® (pronounced Plănt’-skĭd) is the environmentally safe solution to protecting flowers, fruit trees, vegetables, ornamental shrubs, conifers, broadleaf plants and newly planted bulbs.

Plantskydd is made in the U.S.A. from 100% natural ingredients. First developed in Sweden to protect plantations of trees being destroyed by elk, moose, and rabbits, it contains no synthetic additives, is non-toxic, and does not harm animals, humans, or the environment. So, why does Plantskydd work so well? • Protect bulbs and seedlings before you plant them! You can dip bulbs or seedlings in the pre-mixed liquid or prepared concentrate, allow them to dry, and then plant as instructed. You might find that using a spray container works well for seedlings. If wet weather is expected, move your bulbs or seedlings to a dry place while they dry. For additional bulb protection, you can sprinkle the granulated product on the soil, which will keep squirrels, possums, and other pests from digging up freshly planted bulbs.
• Protect trees against Buck-Rub and Girdling! Using the soluble powder concentrate, mix into a paste at a 1:2 ratio and paint directly onto the bark where rubbing or girdling is a problem. Girdling, the removal of a strip of bark around the circumference of the tree, can result in the death of the tree, so pay particular attention in this case. You can also spray the pre-mixed liquid or the soluble powder concentrate, mixed as directed on the box, directly onto the bark.
• Protect against Browsing! The fall and winter means that hungry beasts are lurking around every corner, just waiting to munch on your costly shrubs, plants and trees, especially the young tender ones. Using the pre-mixed liquid or the soluble powder concentrate, prepared as directed, spray Plantskydd on dry plants. Plan to do this when rain or heavy fog is not expected for 24 hours. In 24 hours time the Plantskydd will be rain-fast and your plants will be protected for up to 6 months.
