Milky Spore is lethal to the lawn grubs of the familiar, destructive summer-time pest; commonly known as the Japanese beetle.
Milky Spore is not a chemical pesticide; it is a safe simple spore which will not affect your pets, children, wells, ponds or streams. It can safely be applied to your lawn, flower beds and gardens.
Lawn grubs are considered the weakest link in the chain and the most vulnerable point to introduce an infection, resident spores in treated turf are swallowed by the lawn grubs during their normal pattern of feeding; this starts the demise of healthy lawn grubs and within the next 7-21 days it will die, which releases billions of new grub killing spores.
Milky Spore is remarkably resistant to adverse weather conditions and remains viable in the soil for many years. Once the Japanese beetle larvae are completely destroyed, the spores remain dormant in the soil for years while waiting to go to work again as soon as new lawn grubs appear.
Milky Spore is very hardy and is compatible with fungicides, fertilizers, pesticides and other lawn chemicals. It can applied anytime the ground is not frozen. Milky Spore is available in two forms; powder or granular.
- Milky Spore Powder is applied by putting one level teaspoonful in concentrated spots every four feet in rows that are four feet apart. Use the dispenser and save your back (from all the bending over) and your time.
- Milky Spore Granular is a 2-year program. Apply spring, summer and fall for 2 consecutive years with a Drop Spreader only.
To determine how much Milky Spore you will need; simply multiply the dimensions of your yard, which gives you the total square footage. The 10oz will cover 2,500 square feet, the 40oz will cover 10,000 square feet, and the 20lb granular will cover 7,000 square feet.
