Each packet of Certified Organic Broccoli Seed has approximately 200 seeds.
Broccoli is a popular vegetable because it’s fairly easy to grow and is loaded with tons of Vitamins A, B, and C, along with iron, calcium and protein. Cup for cup Broccoli has as much vitamin C as an orange and as much calcium as milk. It is great served raw, boiled or steamed. Cook it as part of a main dish with other ingredients, or serve as a side dish. It is also a satisfying between meal snack with a little ranch dressing or cream cheese.
Broccoli seed should be germinated indoors at a temperature of 85°F. Under the correct conditions, it takes 4-8 days for the broccoli seed to germinate. You can also start broccoli in a greenhouse, or in one of our single or double mini-greenhouses.
Broccoli tends to like cool weather and is likely to ‘bolt’ in hot weather, so you might want to give some shade cloth protection if the weather turns exceptionally warm. Also avoid watering the tops of the plants as that encourages flowering.
In order to grow the healthiest; best tasting broccoli, the pH level of your garden soil should be 6.0-6.8. Using an inexpensive soil tester will take the guess work out of determining the pH levels.
