Kohlrabi is a good source of potassium and vitamin C, one cup contains 140% of the recommended daily allowance of vitamin C.
When planting, select a location with full sun and work in a general purpose plant food to help promote quick growth. Kohlrabi does not need a deep soil as it is the stem that grows into a bulb, just plenty of water and well drained soil.
Harvest when the root gets larger than a tennis ball. Pick as much as you need, and let the remainder continue to grow. The leaves are also edible and can be added to salads. Our Kohlrabi harvesting tips page has more information on harvesting.
