Bean

Beans are a popular home garden vegetable crop and an excellent source of vitamin C, vitamin K and manganese. They grow best in well drained soil with plenty of sunlight. Delay planting until all danger of frost has passed.

Water the plants about once a week, do not allow the soil to get dry while the beans are blooming or yields will be decreased. After the plants begin to flower and set beans, apply 1/2 Cup of plant food for every 10 feet of row, water the plants after feeding.

Beans are ready to pick when they are about the size of a small pencil. Pull them carefully to avoid damaging the plant. If you continue to pick the beans when they are ready, the plants will continue producing for several weeks. Watch a video that shows how easy it is to pick Green Beans.
