Tickseed Plants

Tickseed Plants are considered by many gardeners to be one of the best native wildflowers for use just about anywhere. Butterflies love them while deer avoid them, so spread them around! Normally grown as a perennial, these new varieties are grown as annuals in most areas.

You may also know Tickseed as Coreopsis (pronounced ko-ree-OP-sis). This plant produces daisy-like flowers all summer and into the fall and comes in a stunning array of colors. They are known for their long bloom season; deadheading encourages even more prolific blooming. The foliage of most Tickseed is green, with a fern-like look and the drought-tolerant nature of Tickseed makes it a great plant for container gardens or near the road or mailbox where it may not get watered regularly.
