Impatiens Plants

impatiens plants

There is nothing that says summer quite like a border or container of bright Impatiens plants. These beauties are versatile, adapting well to growing in the partially shaded garden bed or in your favorite deck box or decorative planter.

Impatiens, pronounced im-PAY-shunz, are available in single or double varieties and in trailing and exotic varieties, the majority of them growing best in part to full shade, though newer hybrids, such as the New Guinea Impatiens, are being developed that are more sun-loving. Impatiens plants, as a whole, are adaptable to different soil types but prefer consistent moisture in order to bloom prolifically. If watering cannot be done consistently, just sprinkle some water absorbing crystals into the planting hole, making consistent moisture more availble. And, as with all flowering plants, they will benefit greatly from adequate essential nutrients when you transplant them. We recommend putting a little Bone Meal and Flower-tone in each planting hole as you dig.
