Our Nemesia Flower Seeds produce a cool-season annual with snapdragon-like blossoms in a variety of pastel colors, all of them fragrant, with the white being the strongest, at least according to some gardeners. Some nemesia cultivars will benefit from pinching to increase branching, while the newest cultivars have been bred for bushy plants, filling out quickly and fully, reaching heights of 1 to 2-feet, all without having to pinch new growth. The aromatic blossoms are held in large clusters at the top of erect, sturdy stems and can be cut to fill out fresh flower arrangements.
Nemesia, pronounced nuh-MEE-zee-uh, grows best in areas with cool dry summers and will even bloom throughout the entire summer and into the fall in places with milder summers, such as the Pacific Northwest. They have also been known to continue to bloom in warmer conditions, provided they have afternoon shade. Use Nemesia in mass plantings to fill beds or in mixed containers. Nemesia will bloom best in full sun, but tolerates partial shade well, prefers fertile, well-drained soil, though is adaptable, and does not withstand heat and humidity well.
