Our Clover Flower seeds are most often grown, either as forage for stock or to improve the soil condition of infertile soil. Clover’s roots are able to produce their own nitrogen and other substances through a process called nitrogen fixation. The plants cannot use all that they produce, which means as roots and leaves die, the soil is enriched. Many farmers will plant a field of clover between crops, tilling it under in order to supplement the soil, a practice known as “green manuring”. The same can be done for an infertile area of your landscape so as to prepare the area for grass seed or sod. You can also use low-growing clover as a border plant and bed filler, or to harvest the small, but intricate and aesthetically pleasing blossoms for dried flower arrangements. A member of the legume family, clover is a favorite prairie wildflower, grown for naturalizing areas and used to draw honey bees and butterflies. Both of these are exceptional pollinators, and in fact, are necessary for many fruits and vegetables to bear. Available in both annual and perennial varieties, you’ll find that the blossoms of the clover plant can be as amazingly beautiful as its growth can be beneficial. It is not normally necessary to fertilize clover in order to aid its growth, though an application of Neptune’s Harvest Organic Kelp Meal would ensure the best performing clover, as well as helping to rebuild infertile soil. Each order of our fresh Clover seeds is filled by hand, put into a resealable plastic bag and then placed into a labeled seed packet. It is our goal to provide our customers the best in freshness and quality. |
