Cineraria Flower Seeds

Our Cineraria Flower seeds produce colorful annual flowers that are now classified as Pericallis, but were once in the Senecio or Cinerariais genera. Yes, that creates some confusion, but only for those to whom classification and genus are important. Their daisy-like blossoms and astounding colors are what is most important when it comes to decorating your landscape.

Cineraria, pronounced sin-uh-RAIR-ee-uh, is also referred to as Florist’s cineraria, the result of the most popular cultivars today being bred by florists, the first hybrids being developed in the British Royal Gardens sometime around 1777. One of the first to bloom in late winter or early spring, they will stop blooming in the heat of the summer, showing their colors again in the fall. Prone to self-seeding, cut the flowers for your vases or deadhead spent blooms before they seed, if you don’t want this to happen. They grow best, displaying the most vivid colors when grown in partial shade with a consistently moist, but not wet, habitat rich in organic matter. As with all bloomers, they will perform their best on a regular feeding schedule. We recommend Jungle Flora or Espoma Flower-tone®, both of which are organically rich and specially formulated for blooming plants.

Each order of our fresh Cineraria seeds is filled by hand, put into a resealable plastic bag and then placed into a labeled seed packet. It is our goal to provide our customers the best in freshness and quality.

Our ‘Venezia Mix’ Cineraria Flower Seed is a most colorful mixture of the first hybrid cineraria on the market and though still referred to as cineraria, has been reclassified by taxonomist to pericallis. The Venezia mix has 8 colors in all, ranging from palest lavender to carmine red, in both solid and ringed blossoms.
