Organic Eggplant Seed

Each packet of our Certified Organic Eggplant Seed has approximately 100 seeds, which plants a 130' row and produces approximately 200 fresh eggplants.

Eggplant seeds are generally started indoors; however they can be planted directly into the garden soil when the threat of frost is past. When germinated indoors, temperatures should be between 60-90°F. Under the correct conditions, it takes 10-14 days for the eggplant seed to germinate. Seeds should be started 10 weeks before your transplant date. When planting outdoors, you sow them very shallow. In fact, you can put them on top of the soil and gently water them in.

In order to grow the healthiest; best tasting eggplants, the pH level of your garden soil should be 6.0.-6.5. A soil tester will take the guess work out of determining the pH levels.

Organic Black Beauty Eggplant Seed

Organic Black Beauty Eggplant Seed produces plants which have been a dependable backyard garden producer for decades. This variety yields up to 15 fruits per plant. The egg-shaped fruits range from 4 to 6 inches and may weigh up to 3 lbs., but they are best harvested when smaller. When harvesting Black Beauty, use a knife or pruning shears, rather than breaking or twisting the stems. Many eggplant varieties have small prickly thorns on the stem and calyx, so exercise caution or wear gloves when harvesting. Leave the large (usually green) calyx attached to the fruit. Use eggplant immediately upon harvest for the best flavor. Eggplants are very perishable and become bitter with age. If you must store them, wrap them in plastic or use plastic containers and store for 1 to 2 days in the refrigerator. Approximately 100 seeds per packet.
