Avalanche Beachcomber Mix Petunia Flower Seeds

SKU: SFS-PET-AVABM-ER
Our ‘Avalanche Beachcomber Mix’ Petunia Flower seed is a random selection of tropical colors, including white, in this popular Avalanche Series, bred for their wet weather tolerance and tighter plant habit than many spreading types of petunias. Not day-length sensitive, all of the Avalanche series will bloom earlier in lower light situations, sometimes weeks earlier and they bloom from the center of the stem, not the end, putting an end to flat-topped-looking baskets! The Beachcomber Mix is designed to bring just a hint of the tropics, right to your own yard or patio. Seeds are pelleted for ease of planting. Approximately 25 seeds per each hand-filled packet. Avalanche Beachcomber Mix Petunia Flower Seeds

Petunias need light and consistently warm soil for germination, though once they’ve sprouted you can grow them up in cooler temperatures. You can direct sow into your garden if you have consistently warm spring temperatures, especially in southern areas where petunias are often grown as a perennial. Most gardeners in most zones will see the best results when using seed starting trays, enabling you to get a jump on the growing season and adequately monitor soil temperature, as well as allowing you to water those delicate seeds from the bottom, rather than the top. Our Hydrofarm Germination Station provides thermostatically controlled heat and a humidity dome, as well as a 72-cell reusable seedling tray. Just follow the directions, gently, yet firmly, press the petunia seeds into your growing medium and do not cover with soil. If watering from the top, use a mister so as not to dislodge the seeds while they are putting down roots.  At consistent soil temperatures of 72 to 77°F, petunias will normally germinate in 7 to 12 days.
