Athyrium Plants have long been popular for the shaded areas of your yard, but are now also becoming popular for planting in containers and hanging baskets.
Athyrium, pronounced a-THIH-ree-um, also commonly called Fern, requires soil that is high in organic matter. If you don’t have rich soil or access to compost we recommend using Neptune's Harvest or Jungle Flora, both of which are organic, liquid soil conditioners. Fern plants will also perform best in soil that is kept consistently moist and mulched in order to keep their root system cool. Many of our customers have found that preparing fern beds with Tera-Sorb results in exceptional water retention, significant monetary savings and means that your ferns will require less individual attention, saving you time.
