Alternanthera Flower Seeds

Our Alternanthera Flower Seeds produce a plant that is most widely grown for its amazingly colorful foliage and is more commonly called Joseph’s Coat or Joyweed.

Alternanthera, pronounced all-ter-NAN-ther-ah, seems to have no real rhyme or reason to it. The foliage, depending upon the cultivar, can be ovoid or lance-shaped, textured or smooth and can display joyful variegation or rich, saturated, solid color. Some varieties thrive in full sun while others prefer full shade. There is an Alternanthera for just about everyone! For the best performance we recommend regular feeding with Espoma Plant-tone®, an all natural, consistent, organic food source.

Each order of our fresh Alternanthera seeds is filled by hand, put into a resealable plastic bag and then placed into a labeled seed packet. It is our goal to provide our customers the best in freshness and quality.

Our ‘Purple Knight’ Alternanthera flower seeds produce a vigorously growing foliage plant with an upright and trailing habit, making it ideal for mixed containers or as a prolific filler for your flower beds. Thriving in subtropical conditions, Purple Knight is very heat tolerant, producing its best coloration when planted in full sun. You can pinch it as needed to produce denser plants or to shape it. Approximately 10 seeds per each hand-filled packet.
